Debra C. Smith, President
With a B.S. in Marketing Communications from Central Connecticut State University (first to graduate in this major), she began her career working for some of the area's Fortune 500 companies including Aetna, Northeast Utilities, Gerber Scientific Instrument and C.E. Maguire. After these industrial experiences, her career path narrowed and she began to specialize in health care marketing and work independently for hospitals, physicians and medical products companies. Her clients have included Fichman Eye Center, Hartford Dental Group, Products of Nature International, NuMedTec, Arrow Prescription Centers, Apple Health Care, Joslin Center for Diabetes, MRI of New Britain and Pediatric Dentistry just to name a few. Her creative work has been recognized by several professional organizations including the New England Society of HealthCare Communicators, Women In Communications, Connecticut Society of Technical Communicators and American Marketing Association. Debra has lectured nationally on Customer Service. In her not so spare time, she also serves as Managing Editor of AAA’s Journeys Magazine and provides editorial content for Mohegan Sun’s Legends Magazine.” Under her dynamic leadership, GraphicWorks is always ready to respond to your needs with a smile.

Tara Gilman, Production Coordinator is responsible for project scheduling, inventory management, equipment maintenance and production control. Tara has a B.S. in Graphics Design from Mount Ida College, Newton, MA. Her technical expertise includes extensive knowledge of graphical software in a MAC environment, e.g., QuarkXpress, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, Microsoft Word and Freehand. She has been working at GraphicWorks for the past three years. Before joining the company, Tara worked for DeForest Associates as a Computer Layout Specialist and New England Typographical Service. Clearly, Tara keeps things moving in a positive direction at GraphicWorks.

Chad Finney, Production/Estimating Assistant is responsible for project estimating, customer service, creative management, production implementation and graphic design. Chad has a B.A. in Fine Arts with a major in Illustration and a concentration in Art History from Hartwick College, Oneonta, NY. Since joining GraphicWorks in 1998 as a summer intern, Chad has assisted Tara with Production and served as the in-house graphic designer to clients whenever needed. His illustration and design skills include an extensive knowledge of the printing equipment. He is also experienced with Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, QuarkXpress, Pagemaker, Powerpoint and Microsoft Word. We count on Chad in many areas–he's definitely our "Jack of all trades and master of many."

Richard Hall, Finishing Specialist is responsible for Bindery and Finishing. Richard was a production engineer for nearly 13 years at Pratt Whitney. He has worked for GraphicWorks since its inception as our invaluable bindery specialist. As such, he is solely responsible for all project finishing (trimming, assembly, laminating & shipping). The job isn't finished until Richard says so.

Steve Lasek, Customer Service Representative is responsible for maintaining outstanding contact with clients. Customer contact and following up on quotes are only some of his responsibilities. Steve is a recent English writing graduate from Western Connecticut State University and has recently assumed the editorship of our company’s newsletter, as well as creating special mailings and product announcements. He’s a great listener so let him know if there’s anything we can do to improve our service.

Susan is a certified public accountant with a B.A. in Economics & Accounting from the College of Holy Cross, Worcester, MA. Before joining the company, Susan worked at Northeast Utilities for 14 years as the Supervisor of Budget Management Department. We count on Susan to keep count of things for us.
